Privacy Policy
The short version
- Your chats never leave your device. Everything you type into Textbait is stored on your phone only. There is no account and no Textbait server.
- The only service the app talks to is RevenueCat, which handles purchases together with Apple.
- No ads, no analytics, no crash-reporting tools, no tracking. We do not sell your data.
- Textbait asks to add pictures to your Photos library only when you choose to save an export. It cannot read your photos.
1. Who we are
Textbait is a chat screenshot maker published by Gökhan Tosun. Questions about this policy: gokhan.tosun1995@gmail.com.
2. What stays on your device
The conversations you create (participant names, messages, status-bar settings and style choices) are saved as files in the app’s private storage on your device so you can come back to them. We cannot see them, because they are never sent anywhere. The app also keeps a small on-device setting that remembers whether you have finished the first-run introduction.
Because chats live only on this device, deleting the app deletes them. We cannot recover them for you.
3. What is collected, and by whom
Textbait itself collects nothing. Purchases are the only feature that involves another party:

Apple processes the payment itself. We never see your card or payment details. Apple’s handling of your data is described in Apple’s Privacy Policy; RevenueCat’s in RevenueCat’s Privacy Policy. We do not use purchase data for advertising, and Textbait does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
We do not ask for your name, email address, contacts, location or any other personal information, and the app does not create an account.
4. Photos
When you tap Save to Photos, iOS asks for permission to add pictures to your library. This add-only permission lets Textbait write the screenshot you just exported. It does not let Textbait look at, read or upload any photo already in your library. If you decline, you can still share the export with the iOS share sheet. Anything you share through the share sheet goes where you send it, under that app’s own policy.
5. Retention
Your chats are kept on your device until you delete them or delete the app. Purchase records held by Apple and RevenueCat are kept under their own retention policies, linked above, including as needed to meet legal and accounting obligations. We hold no personal data about you ourselves.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU and UK, or the CCPA in California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export personal data held about you, and to object to or restrict its processing. We do not hold your chats or any profile of you. For purchase data held by RevenueCat, email us the request and we will pass it on or help you make it; you can also contact Apple for data it holds. We do not sell or share personal information for advertising. You can contact your local data-protection authority if you believe your rights have been infringed.
To remove all on-device data, delete the app. To stop a subscription, cancel it in iOS Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions.
7. Children
Textbait is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app has no account, no chat service and no data collection of its own.
8. Parody use
Textbait makes parody chat screenshots for memes and story posts. Never present an export as a real conversation.
9. Changes to this policy
If the app’s data handling changes, we will update this page and the date above before the change reaches users.
